Recipes Missing from Bookshelf   Go to last post Go to last unread

I've noticed in the last few days that several of the online recipes I had previously added to my bookshelf are now gone.  I searched the library and found the recipes but now I have to add them back to my bookshelf all over again.  Some of these were recipes I had indexed myself so I cannot figure out why they would have been removed.  It's not a huge deal, but it is certainly an inconvenience.  Is anyone else having this problem?

Could you give us a little more info about the missing recipes, including some specific titles and the book/magazine/blog in which they appeared, so we can research this further?

Sure!  A couple of the blogs I've noticed so far are "Cookie and Kate" and "How Sweet It Is".  I went through and added all of the recipes back to my bookshelf from "How Sweet It Is" (130 recipes or so) but noticed today that they are again missing from my bookshelf.  A quick look in the library shows the +Bookshelf icon next to every recipe once again.  Specific recipes that I've searched for include Buckwheat and Spelt Crepes from "Cookie and Kate", Whole Wheat Pancakes from the "Beating the Lunch Box Blues" book (still an online recipe), and Mini Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies from "How Sweet It Is".  While searching for those recipes, I realized there were several others missing from my bookshelf.

I hope this information helps.  Thank you for taking the time to look into this for me!

Nothing immediately comes to mind that would explain why recipes are disappearing from your Bookshelf, but I've added all the Cookie and Kate recipes to my BS as well as a few of the How Sweet It Is recipes so I can keep any eye on them.  So far, they're still on My Bookshelf/Recipes, as well as indicated with the "check" Bookshelf symbol in the Library/Recipes.  Will keep checking periodically in case there's a bug.

I seem to be having this same issue again.  I went searching for some recipes I had added earlier in the year only to find that they were no longer in my bookshelf.  I found them in the library but had to add them to my bookshelf again, even the ones I added to EYB myself.  Is anyone else having this problem?

spharo00 - we haven't had anyone else report this issue but we would be interested to hear from any other members who have experienced it.  When an issue only affects one member it is very hard if not impossible for us to replicate it.  Often in these cases it is user error or there is some issue with an extension or add on on their browser.

I checked and you currently have on your Bookshelf 52 recipes from How Sweet It Is and 9 recipes from Cookies and Kate. If you can send us the name of the recipes that disappear that might help us trace what the issue might be.

Some of the recipes I had to re-add to my bookshelf today include Sichuan Dan-Dan Noodles from Food52, Gingerbread Muffins from Cook Republic, Bulgur-and-Chickpea Salad from Martha Stewart.com, and Falafel with Tahini from Saveur Magazine.  I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I noticed this again today.  I looked up the Lemon Poppyseed Muffins recipe from Joy the Baker.  I currently have that recipe marked as a favorite and am subscribed to that blog in my Bookshelf, but the recipe was nowhere to be found.  I ended up finding it in the library and re-adding it to my Bookshelf, but who knows how many others I might be missing?  Is anyone else having the problem?  It's happened to me several times now over the past year or so.

If you have a blog on your Bookshelf then you cannot (nor should you have any reason to) also add any indvidual recipe from the blog.  All the recipes from that blog are on your Bookshelf, by you adding the blog to your Bookshelf.  But it looks like this recipe was added to the EYB Library by you using the Bookmarklet before we indexed the blog so it is listed twice.  Once a blog is indexed then no individual recipes can be added to the Library.

But that doesn't explain why you couldn't find the recipe when you searched your Bookshelf as you should have had it listed twice - once in the Joy the Baker blog and once from the recipe you added using the Bookmarklet. Now you have added the individual recipe again, when you search My Recipes with "Lemon poppy seed muffins Joy" you should see two listings - do you?

Apologies that I seem to have missed your previous comment about missing recipes.  You should not have needed to add Sichuan Dan-Dan Noodles from Food52 again as it is already on your Bookshelf from the Food52 blog which you have added.  The other recipes you mention are individual recipes from blogs we have not indexed so should have been automtaically on your Bookshelf, since you added them with the Bookmarklet.

I'm afraid I have no explanation as to why they disappeared from your Bookshelf.  We have not had any other member report this issue so it is hard to know what is going wrong in your case.  According to our database you have 871 recipes that you added with the Bookmarklet in the last 3 years.  This is a wonderful addition to the EYB Library and we really appreciate you taking the time to add those recipes.
