The peach cobbler is divine - the biscuits are soft and go perfectly well with the juicy filling. The fresh lemon cake is so tender it's even hard to slice - an instant favorite. And the coconut chews are amazingly good - I replaced half of the sweetened coconut amount for unsweetened coconut.

The red velvet cake I made using a recipe from this book garnered rave reviews a a holiday party.

I thought the flavor was good, but the dessert as a whole was a bit too dense. Also, the fruit portion was yummy, but took longer than stated to thoroughly cook. Perhaps this was why the edges of the buckle were somewhat overcooked.

Absolutely delicious. Very, very tender - and the recipe makes two loaves.

I’ve...always felt that the chocolate part was usually a bit on the dry side, but not here: this cake is sheer perfection and to be honest with you the icing is not even necessary.
