Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Chocolate base

    • Lunacran on November 19, 2025

      Very intense chocolate flavor

  • Peach gelato

    • twoyolks on August 23, 2012

There's very little peach flavor in the gelato.

  • Mint chocolate chip gelato

    • twoyolks on August 02, 2020

A nice enough mint chocolate chip recipe but I would've liked a more complex mint flavor. That may have come from the peppermint extract I used (a variety from Trader Joe's that has been sitting in the cabinet for an indeterminate period of time).

  • Fresh mint gelato

    • twoyolks on January 01, 2019

I found the mint flavor to be a little too vegetal and a little too one note. I'd consider using multiple varieties of mint in the future.

  • Irish cream gelato

    • twoyolks on March 09, 2013

      This is very boozy.

  • Blackberry Cabernet sorbetto

    • tiffany_d1ua3e on April 06, 2026

Surprisingly really yummy. Nice balance of sweet but not too sweet.

  • Grapefruit Campari sorbetto

    • Apollonia on February 03, 2024

Fabulous. The recipe suggests increasing the sugar if serving as a dessert rather than a palate cleanser, but I don't think it needs it. I did replace two tablespoons of sugar with corn syrup for a better texture, however.

Reviews about Recipes in this Book

  • Framboise Lambic beer sorbetto

    • Lottie and Doof

...in the context of dessert it is another thing entirely. This sorbet is packed full of bright tasting raspberries and the beer gives it a complicated finish that is really satisfying.

  • Key lime with graham cracker gelato

    • Not So Humble Pie

If your palette leans towards sweeter ice creams, you might want to skip this...if you're of the sort who loves bright, tart, creamy key lime with a graham cracker crunch, this will not disappoint.
