Notes about this book

There are great Asian noodle recipes in this book - as it was written and published in the UK, we tend only to think of Asian style noodles, pasta is not generally referred to as noodles here. My only caveat is that the index in the book doesn't have entries for the different types of noodle, so as the book is no EYB indexed I was a bit stuck looking for something to do with my pack of fresh udon

This is an excellent cookbook by my standards -- the author is intelligent, writes well, and is clearly an expert on Asian noodles. (She says she comes from a Burmese family and is a Japanophile.) The recipes are about at the level I want -- far more ambitious than some awful travesty of Asian cooking with only 3 or 5 ingredients, but not so authentic that I can't make them -- that is, although some exotic ingredients are called for, they aren't beyond what can be found in big-city western markets. One caveat: As implied above, this is not for people who want short ingredient lists or easy recipes. Another: although it is called "Noodles," all the recipes are for Asian noodles -- no pasta, no Eastern European egg noodles, etc.
