Chocolate crispie cakes: we had fun making these and everyone pleased with results. We ended up with 16 but probably could have stretched to 18. Co-op chocolate soy-free.

Really chocolatey chocolate cake. Made a half batch of this as cupcakes and got 10 (could probably have squeezed 11) which is more than I expected. I used plain flour and added 2 tsp baking powder. Decorated with buttons and strawberries (we preferred strawberries). Baked for 18 minutes and could have come out a fraction sooner. Delicious - probably the best vegan gf cakes I've made. The icing was lovely but not great for piping. Better to just swirl and then decorate. Would absolutely re-make this as a birthday cake.

Publishers Text

It's daunting when your child is diagnosed with a food allergy but just because they're allergic to one, or indeed, several types of food doesn't mean that they can't eat delicious meals with the rest of the family, benefit from a healthy, balanced diet or (should they deserve them!) have tasty treats. From shepherd's pie, risottos, Thai curries and casseroles as well as cakes and desserts, The Allergy-Free Family Cookbook is packed full of 100 nutritious recipes, which allow everyone around the table to enjoy the same meal. Using ingredients that can be readily found in supermarkets, each recipe is free from all eight major food allergens: dairy, egg, gluten, soya, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame and shellfish.
