  • Veal shanks in white wine sauce (Ossobuco alla Milanese)

Tasty and fairly easy to pull together. I doubled the number of veal shanks (to 4) and everything just fit in my lidded sauté pan. The veal came out quite tender and succulent. In all it comfortably served 5 people along with sides (the recommended risotto alla Milanese as well as the squash agrodolce) and some focaccia. There's a nice synergy with the risotto because both the osso buco and the risotto require ladling hot broth, so you can just combine the broth amounts and leave it simmering away on a back burner. I also made the almond cookies to serve for dessert alongside coffee, fruit, and cheese. Overall a nice meal for a dinner party that came together in around 3 hours. Would make again!
