      Rich and dense and not too sweet. I subbed AP flour for gluten-free flour, but otherwise followed the recipe. I would make this again, but leave the heat on the chocolate mix a little longer to dissolve the sugar and avoid any grittiness.

      Delicious bars that were perfect for autumn. Spiced and sweet from the apple butter with a little crunch from the toasted walnuts. I used the apple butter recipe in this book. I would make these again.

  • Chocolate zucchini loaf

      This had a great, deep chocolate flavor but came out a little dry. I always have a difficult time determining if chocolate baked goods are done baking, and I think I overbaked this. I'll try again next time I have a spare zucchini.

      I've never made apple butter before, but this was delicious and so easy. Throw everything in the slow cooker, wait until your house starts smelling amazing, then blend everything together. I used this recipe to make the apple butter blondies in this book.
