This book is about marriage. Marriage is the joining of two people, who bring with them their histories, their cultures, their families, … and their foods. The two people join together to form a new unit that builds on those histories and cultures to create a new family, complete with its own culture, history, … and food.

In this cookbook, Andrea brings her husband's Persian food heritage, her Eastern European Jewish food heritage, and their home in the Pacific Northwest together to create their family's own food culture. It is a marriage of flavors and techniques. Reflecting the diversity in their family and friends, the recipes in this book infuse Persian flavors and cooking techniques into foods from a variety of other cultures, from Mexican to Indian to Chinese. To embody the importance of environmental sustainability to their family, there is an emphasis on vegetarian foods and vegetarian or vegan options.
