Notes about this book

Mrs Rowe's restaurant, and especially her pies, were a part of ritual and routine in the Shenandoah Valley for decades. This book gives me a little bit of my childhood back, and the comfortable excitement of weekend family lunches at Mrs Rowe's. It is a guidebook to Virginia homecoming and special occasion trests to share with the ones you love

Cream of potato and bacon soup (pg. 71) - this is an Americana cookbook and this is an Americana recipe - it could be my Mother's except (a) Mother didn't use carrot and (b) Mother never measured. Excellent comfort food recipe.
