Publishers Text

Inspired by Tant Sannie, a character in Olive Schreiner's The story of an African farm, Tant Sannie's Cook book is a delightful collection of recipes that one would imagine she used in her kitchen in the Karoo. The author has provided traditional recipes as they might have been written in the 1800s together with more contemporary measurements and methods. The recipes are arranged alphabetically - you'll find recipes for bobotie, custard, koeksisters, malva pudding, ostrich eggs and springbok potjie as well as for household items such as prickly pear soap, and remedies for everyday ailments such as Alcohol overdose.
