Publishers Text

Aimed at those who like to drink wine but would like to know a bit more about what they're drinking, the book features the best value wines up to the mid-range in terms of price. Wine master and TV presenter Jonathan Pedley demystifies what's in the bottle, and translates the new global language of wine. The first section of the book deals with the practicalities of enjoying wine. Buying it, storing it, serving it, drinking it and choosing food to go with it. However, the most important element in this section is about how to get the most out of tasting wine. The second section runs through the business of growing grapes and making wine. Rather than just describing the production process as an end in itself, constant reference is made in the book to the way apparently arcane decisions in the vineyard and winery affect the flavour of the liquid we drink. The third section is a tour of the world's wine-producing countries.
