Publishers Text
Like its predecessor, "Survival For the Fittest" (published February 2000), this is more than a recipe book, it is the definitive guide to getting organized at home and cooking great meals. It is aimed not only at athletes but anyone who is interested in maintaining a healthy diet in a busy lifestyle. A collaboration between the dieticians at the Australian Institute of Sport, the books have evolved out of the cooking classes which the Institute has been running with its athletes for ten years. Although the AIS is at the cutting edge of the science of sports nutrition, its dieticians felt that this wealth of knowledge could not be of true benefit unless the athletes themselves felt at home in the kitchen. The books acknowledge the fact that busy people - especially athletes - face many pressures including long hours, fatigue and professional commitments. The results therefore are these recipes chosen and adapted to contain maximum energy value, with appropriate carbohydrate, protein and fat content. This collection features the same kind of quick, delicious and foolproof recipes, and each is accompanied by a nutritional analysis per serve, easy cooking tips, a handy shopping list and photos and quotes from a selection of AIS athletes. Advice is offered on maintaining food variety and enjoyment while training, focusing on fuel foods and staying cool with fluids.Other cookbooks by this author
