Bourbon-and-Coke meatloaf sandwich with fried egg and black pepper gravy from Smoke & Pickles: Recipes and Stories from a New Southern Kitchen (page 64) by Edward Lee

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Notes about this recipe

  • Eat Your Books

Can substitute white bread for Texas toast.

I had to add a lot more breadcrumbs than called for because the mix was so wet. If you are looking for a dense slice-able loaf, this is not it. But the flavor is good. I didn't think the gravy was necessary.
