    A sweet and savory side- excellent with any type of grilled meat. Don't bother cutting the dates in slivers- they stick together and break off, but do cut in pieces small enough to disperse the sweetness throughout the salad. I roasted peppers my normal way (over the flame of my gas hob) rather than following the recipe - but jarred peppers would make this a quick dish to pull together. Be generous with the pepper- this dish can really take a lot.
