Can substitute masa harina for masa, vegetable shortening for lard, and feta cheese, farmer's cheese or Parmesan cheese for queso fresco. See recipe for variations.

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

The instructions did not make these easy. It was hard to get the filling wrapped up in the masa cake. And then it was also hard to cook them.
