Chicken fricassee from My Kitchen Year: 136 Recipes That Saved My Life (page 88) by Ruth Reichl

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Notes about this recipe

I've made a number of different chicken fricassees over the years with various results. My final go to choice has been Julia Child's in Mastering the Art of French Cooking...until I made this recipe. This recipe is every bit as delicious and much less complicated and laborious. It's my husband's favorite. I could eat a bowl of the sauce all by itself ??!

Very good. Very warm and mushroom-y sauce. Next time I would add twice the number of mushrooms and remove a few pieces of chicken to compensate. I didn't have white wine, so I used a red instead.

Wonderful sauce, if I were queen I would have someone take all the chicken off the bone for me.
