How to dress a salad from Six Seasons: A New Way with Vegetables (page 54) by Joshua McFadden and Martha Holmberg

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

I agree on his point that adding individual dressings is the best way to go. However I have always dressed salads with oil first, then vinegar, since forever, after reading Moosewood by Molly Katzen. She says to dress with oil first because *oil will not stick to moisture ie only to dry vegetables, and * vinegar will wash off the vegetables when the oil is added if done the other way around. Hmmm, so now I have to do a taste test :) .
