How to cook the perfect Dorset apple cake from The Guardian by Felicity Cloake

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

23/2 I used spelt flour. This is a lovely cake! Much fluffier and not as wet than I thought it would be, and very fragrant with nutmeg. Next time I won't bother with the almonds - putting them on for the last 15 minutes means there's nothing for them to stick to so they just fall off. I might do a streusel topping though. Definitely one to make again. 30/3 I made it again, in a 2lb loaf tin, using plain flour and not bothering with the almonds. Just having a sprinkle of demerara sugar on top was better than the almonds.
