Smacked cucumber from Chinese Soul Food: A Friendly Guide for Homemade Dumplings, Stir-Fries, Soups, and More (page 82) by Hsiao-Ching Chou

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Good cucumber side dish. I peeled the cucumbers so more of the sauce would soak into the cucumbers. I prefer this version with balsamic vinegar to others with Chinese black vinegar--maybe the extra sweetness appeals to me?

Loved these. I used the side of my cleaver to smack the cucumbers. I used baby cucumbers.
