Chocolate beef chili with jalapeño & cheese scones from Clodagh's Suppers: Suppers to Celebrate the Seasons (page 117) by Clodagh McKenna

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Notes about this recipe

Can substitute milk for buttermilk, and shallots for white onions.

The scones are so easy to make and are delicious. To make buttermilk, add 1 tbsp of lemon juice to 1 cup of full fat milk. Warm the milk a little and leave in warm place for 15 mins. I used medium cheddar cheese instead of Dubliners and added a little parmesan.
