    I made this in the spirit it was presented: a pandemic-driven, mostly-pantry recipe. I used 8 oz pasta, about 12 oz mixed greens (baby spinach, chard, kale), no tomatoes or onion, fewer red pepper flakes. My smoked sardines were not in oil, so I added some to cook the garlic. Fortunately, they were also not overly salty and I reserved some pasta cooking water to add to the pasta. After tasting the pasta, I added the zest of 2 lemons. Topped with toasted breadcrumbs. Not bad for a pantry meal.
