    Dried fruits must soak in whisky and orange juice overnight, and cake must stand 5 days. Can substitute pecans, walnuts, or hazelnuts for blanched almonds; dark brown sugar or dark muscovado sugar for light brown sugar; and brandy for whisky. See recipe for a variation.
