Brandied cherries from Better Than Store-Bought: A Cookbook: Authoritative Recipes for the Foods That Most People Never Knew They Could Make at Home (page 157) by Helen Witty and Elizabeth Schneider Colchie

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

I made these regularly for many years and they were a family favorite. At that time I lived in area with many pick-your-own cherry orchards and a wide variety of cherries were available. Now I seem to be surrounded with mostly Bing Cherries, and they do not work as well in this recipe, as Witty notes. If you have access to varieties of fresh cherries other than Bing, this recipe is highly recommended.
