Simple drop doughnuts from The New Family Cookbook: All-New Edition of the Best-Selling Classic with 1,000 New Recipes (page 574) by America's Test Kitchen Editors

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Notes about this recipe

Had to double the amount of milk just to get the batter to hold together. The real issue is they're not particularly sweet. It's like eating a wheat-based hushpuppy with a little confectioners sugar. Not worth doing. One or two will fill you up since they really expand in the oil, to slightly larger than golf balls. Out of curiosity I tried two of the dough balls in the airfryer at 350F for 10 min and they were denser, lighter in color, and more unappealing.
