Roman lentil soup from Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and The Diet Dictocrats by Sally Fallon Morell and Mary Enig

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

We try to have lentils every Monday, and this recipe has made the regular rotation. The fish sauce gives the soup an unusual but delicious flavour. Don’t leave it out! I reckon the fish sauce you use in this recipe would make a big difference to how it turns out. We use Red Boat as it’s just fermented anchovies and salt. The logic was that that seems closest to what would have been used by the Romans way back when.
