    I made this cake today and was worried about the insanely long bake time. It's a very rich, dense cake with a lot of wet ingredients and the batter is heavy. I shortened the cooking time a bit but should have pulled it out sooner I think - the outside is almost burned and definitely dry. The inner cake is more tender. I cut back on the sugar a teeny bit and cut down on the butter and vanilla in the frosting because it just seemed like it would be too much and I don't like overly sweet. Would consider making it again because it wasn't that complicated and the flavors are nice, but maybe split it into two cake pans or muffin tins for cupcakes so I could shorten the bake time and keep it more tender without risking an undercooked center.
