Hungarian pepper stew with tomatoes and sausage (Lecsó) from Christopher Kimball's Milk Street Magazine, Jan/Feb 2023 (page 14)

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Can substitute cubanelle or Anaheim peppers for banana peppers and a mixture of sweet paprika and ground cayenne pepper for hot paprika.

My husband is Hungarian and said this was almost exactly like his Grandma's stew. While I enjoyed the broth and the flavor of the sausage, I really couldn't get past the texture of the big chunks of pepper. My husband said this was authentic though, so I'll attribute that to my personal preference.
