Beef Stroganoff from RecipeTin Eats by Nagi Maehashi

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Notes about this recipe

  • Eat Your Books

Can substitute boneless beef rib-eye steaks, beef tenderloin, or beef sirloin for beef Scotch fillets; cornstarch for all-purpose flour; and egg noodles, mashed potatoes, rice, or polenta for pasta of your choice.

A 3.0 out of 5. Good. An easy dish to throw together. We used a hanger steak we had in the fridge and followed her idea of velveting the beef. It came out fork-cut tender. The gravy was tasty with the addition of the Dijon mustard. We didn't get to the store for fresh mushrooms and used two cans of mushrooms. Although lacking the deep mushroom flavor the canned mushrooms provided for some textural difference. We served the beef stroganoff with the classic egg noodles. A comforting dish. We will make this again.
