Omit meat for a vegetarian variation. Can substitute cashew nuts or almonds for pine nuts; plain yogurt for Greek yogurt; ghee for unsalted butter; ground beef, beef tenderloin or beef steaks for lamb loin; and baharat for Lebanese 7 spice. Soak chickpeas in water 8 hours or overnight.
