Taiwanese braised pork rice (Lu rou fan) from Tiffy Cooks: 88 Easy Asian Recipes from My Family to Yours (page 152) by Tiffy Chen

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Wow, this was good. It was actually quite easy to put together as the braise does most of the work. I attempted to fry the shallots but be careful, those go from perfect to burnt especially with carry over cooking. I used store bought fried shallots as an emergency substitute and probably wouldn't know the difference. The major flavor notes are soy and five spice. I would definitely make this again.

It's simple to prepare yet incredibly delicious, bringing comfort and nostalgia to every bite. My family absolutely loves it, and it’s now a regular on our dinner rotation.
