Herby, garlicky pasta salad from Third Culture Cooking: Classic Recipes for a New Generation (page 56) by Zaynab Issa

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Notes about this recipe

  • Eat Your Books

Can substitute arugula for herbs; dried oregano, sesame seeds, and sumac for za'atar; any short pasta for fusilli; and maple syrup for honey.

An easy and fresh pasta salad, but could use a few more hefty ingredients to feel more well-rounded and filling.

Letting it meld is key. I tried it warm right away and was not impressed, but the next day it was great. I enjoyed it at room temp or rewarmed, but not cold. I wanted a lil crunch so topped mine with fried shallots. Breadcrumbs or nuts would work too though.

Easy, made some of the recommended substitutions based on what I had on hand. I would maybe add a touch more salt, vinegar and oil. Lacked that bite from an acid the way the recipe was laid out. I would make it again.
