Classic chocolate chip cookies from King Arthur Baking

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Can substitute white vinegar for apple cider vinegar, and gluten-free flour for unbleached all-purpose flour. See recipe for a mocha variation.

I first made these cookies as prizes for an event with teenagers. They went over very well, and I’ve continued to make them when I want a reliable choc chip cookie. One of the few recipes I make that uses shortening. Crisp outside and fairly chewy inside. I usually reduce the amount of chocolate chips. Would be good with toasted pecans.
