Swedish visiting cake from Baking - From My Home to Yours (page 197) by Dorie Greenspan

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Family liked cake. We like almond so I added the almond extract but I would use less next time. Probably depends on extract.

Have made a few times over the years and I most appreciate the speed that this comes together. Hot tip: I put the unwrapped butter in the cake pan and let it melt in the oven while it preheats. Pull it out as soon as it's melted so it has a minute to cool and then swirl it around the pan before you pour into the batter. You've dirtied one less dish and your pan is greased!

I've made this cake dozens of times and passed on the recipe almost as often. A seriously quick, easy, and very tasty one bowl finger cake. I don't find it too sweet but up the almond flavor a bit and put more almonds on top. It is very good in the spring/summer with strawberries and whipped cream, other berries or peaches. Really versatile. Good for potlucks and bake sales (put large slices in cellophane bags and tie up with ribbon). Like to have it on hand for house guests for noshing. Keeps well for several days but almost never lasts that long.

Good cake but too sweet. Light texture. Managed to get the crunchy exterior with standard cake tin. I will definitely use less sugar next time.

Very nice little cake. I reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup (150g) as per zorra's recommendation and used princess flavouring in place of the vanilla, almond extract and lemon rind.

Very good, but next time I'd reduce the sugar to 3/4 cup.

Moist, delicious, marzipany texture and easy to put together. My MIL loved it! http://technicolorkitcheninenglish.blogspot.com/2011/05/swedish-visiting-cake-music-lyrics.html
