Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

    This was a good, hearty meal that my husband and I enjoyed and that my kids tolerated. The recipe is also on the Cook’s Illustrated website, and many reviewers there suggested adding onions and using more/different spices. I added one large chopped red onion and for the spices, I didn’t have curry powder, so instead I added 1.5 t. each of garam masala and coriander, 3/4 t. of cumin, and sprinkles of coriander, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper. I probably won’t go out of my way to make this again, but if I am looking for a good pantry meal, this is a likely option.
