  • Crispy za'atar chicken cutlets with sweet potato wedges

    • Tweedles81 on April 09, 2026

This was delicious! The crusted chicken (I used chicken breast tenders) browned beautifully, and the sweet potatoes were great. But the star of the dish was the vinaigrette. I used dill as my herb. My daughter loved it and my discerning husband was raving about it. I also made the tahini sauce, and I am glad I did. The chicken needed it. I will most definitely make this dish again, with my only change being that I will add some salt to the panko mixture. It was easy and tasty!

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on April 25, 2026

      Easy & delicious

  • Skillet chicken breasts with burst cherry tomato sauce

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on April 30, 2026

Paired with Parmesan Polenta (pg. 55) and a simple green salad. it was great. It would be so good with pasta too.

  • Crispy ranch chicken and broccoli

    • kellbell383 on April 05, 2026

Very good payoff for the amount of effort, though my family was less excited about it than I was

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 08, 2026

Simple and delicious. Paired it w/ rice pilaf.

  • Barbecue-rubbed chicken thighs with deviled egg potato salad

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 08, 2026

Perfect summer meal. I grilled the chicken and paired it with corn on the cob & sweet tea. It transported me right back to my southern childhood.

  • Sticky gochujang chicken thighs with carrot-kimchi salad

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 13, 2026

So fun. Made some white rice to go with it.

  • Roasted chicken thighs with asparagus, arugula and walnut salad

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 21, 2026

I enjoyed this way more than I expected. I'm not usually an arugula fan and I was worried the chicken would be too plain. I was wrong on both points. The chicken is simple but I absolutely would not call it pain. That salad made me an arugula fan! I made some lemon pepper roasted potatoes with it.

  • Honey-glazed chicken drumsticks with charred corn and pineapple salad

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 30, 2026

Absolutely delicious! The salad alone will knock your stuff off. I added a can of black beans to the salad and served it with tortilla chips. My husband and I loved it!

  • Lemon-oregano chicken with farro salad

    • KathrynEberle on May 08, 2026

I used cherry tomatoes instead of a whole tomato

  • Creamy Parmesan polenta

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on April 30, 2026

Paired with the Skillet Chicken Breasts w/ Burst Cherry Tomato Sauce (pg. 23).

  • Cashew chicken

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on April 25, 2026

Paired w/ white rice & Mixed Green Salad w/ Miso Honey Vinaigrette (pg. 250). I added some of the cashews to the salad. We loved it!

  • Chicken piccata meatballs

    • Tweedles81 on April 14, 2026

This was a dangerous dish to make. Oil was splattering all over the place. I don’t know if my turkey was the problem because I had previously frozen it? Anyway, the meatballs were meh. The sauce was very good over pasta. No one in my family really loved this. I likely won’t make it again.

  • Jammy skillet sausages with blackberries and fennel

    • Tweedles81 on April 23, 2026

This was delicious - and SO easy to make. The sauce took much longer to reduce to the necessary consistency than the recipe called for. That’s my only complaint. Everyone in my family loved the sauce so much that we used hot dog buns to sop it up, since we didn’t have any other bread in the house. This is an easy, delicious weeknight meal that will definitely be on repeat in our house!

  • Cilantro-lime lamb chops with cucumber-pea salad

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 02, 2026

Absolutely incredible! I was very skeptical of the cucumber-pea salad but it was great! I paired this with some lemon roasted potatoes.

  • Lemony halibut with roasted fingerling potatoes

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 26, 2026

Boring. I had to throw together a quick cream sauce for it.

  • Mussels with white wine and parsley

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 24, 2026

      Easier than expected and delicious!

  • Broccoli and feta frittata

    • Tweedles81 on April 01, 2026

I had all of the ingredients for this recipe, so I gave it a whirl. I thought it was very tasty. My kids said it was better than they thought it would be but they still didn’t love it. The frittata unfortunately didn’t come out of the pan in one piece. This recipe is not a looker, but it tastes better than it looks. I probably won’t make it again just because my kids did not love it, but it was really easy, and you can’t go wrong with broccoli and feta!

  • Chickpea curry

    • Tweedles81 on April 11, 2026

This was a good, hearty meal that my husband and I enjoyed and that my kids tolerated. The recipe is also on the Cook’s Illustrated website, and many reviewers there suggested adding onions and using more/different spices. I added one large chopped red onion and for the spices, I didn’t have curry powder, so instead I added 1.5 t. each of garam masala and coriander, 3/4 t. of cumin, and sprinkles of coriander, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper. I probably won’t go out of my way to make this again, but if I am looking for a good pantry meal, this is a likely option.

  • Mezzi rigatoni with spicy gochujang tomato sauce

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 03, 2026

Fantastic! Paired with Korean BBQ Short Ribs.

  • Chili crisp noodles

    • anya_sf on April 10, 2026

I omitted the Sichuan peppercorns (didn't have), substituted ground turkey for pork, and regular peanut butter for natural, using slightly less sugar. I also didn't have the recommended brand of chili crisp (LAOGANMA), so used half Fly by Jing (which contains black beans, which they did not recommend using here) and half Trader Joe's crunchy chili onion. Honestly, I think any brand would be fine. The noodles were really tasty and we ate way too much - did not get 4-6 (dinner) servings. One more thing - cooked noodles are supposed to be rinsed; I used cold water, which made the dish cold, while we preferred it warm. Ended up microwaving it. Next time rinse with warm water (or heat sauce?).

  • Mixed green salad with miso-honey vinaigrette

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on April 25, 2026

Great! Made with Cashew Chicken (pg. 58) and added some of the cashews to it.

  • Orecchiette with navy beans, Brussels sprouts and bacon

    • jmohart on March 29, 2026

This was okay, not something I'd go for again. The breadcrumb topping is great, need to find other places to use it

  • Drop biscuits

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 14, 2026

So easy and so tasty! Light and fluffy. I doubled the recipe and got 9 small biscuits.

  • Charred broccoli Caesar salad with chicken

    • Tweedles81 on June 02, 2026

If your family loves Caesar salad and you want to change it up, this is the recipe for you! My 11 y/o helped me make it and had fun doing it! A few tips: 1. Be sure to cut the broccoli stalks thin. A few of mine were too thick and ended up being too crunchy. 2. We salted the breadcrumbs just a bit before serving. Also, at the 2 minute mark, our first batch of breadcrumbs burned, so watch them carefully! 3. We did not use anchovies. We still felt like the dressing tasted authentically Caesar! 4. I used half of a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken We will definitely be adding this recipe to our rotation!

  • Korean sizzling beef lettuce wraps

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 09, 2026

Delicious! I added some ginger and green onions to the beef, red pepper flakes to the cucumbers, and thinned out the Sriracha mayo with a little water. ??

  • Tofu katsu sandwiches

    • cheryl_9rgvpq on May 21, 2026

Good. But not something I'd repeat.

No matter your craving, you’ll find a dinner that fits the bill in under 45 minutes with easy cleanup. That could be chicken salad with a fantastic dressing (Yogurt-Tahini Chicken Salad with Preserved Lemon); umami-rich noodles (Chili Crisp Noodles); or a deeply comforting soup (Sausage and White Bean Soup).

Fresh Ideas for Pantry Staples: Are you staring blankly at your pantry? These recipes give it new life (canned tuna = Spaghetti al Tonno; frozen peas = Beef Keema Matar). Modern Flavor Boosters: Every recipe showcases a smart way to add flavor, like an Old Bay–spiked lemon compound butter that melts over salmon fillets and pools into a bowl of confetti grits; or pomegranate molasses that becomes a one-ingredient glaze for chicken. Flexible Swaps: Got parsley but no cilantro? Ground turkey but no pork? These recipes indicate when swaps make sense. Riff on Recipes to Make New Meals: The sauce for Murgh Makhani (aka Butter Chicken) is so perfectly spiced, you’ll want to try it with tofu or chickpeas—we show you how. Comfort-Food Flavors in Low-Key Renditions: Chicken Parmesan Meatballs, Meatball Bahn Mi (can you tell we love meatballs?), and Gochujang Chicken and Tortellini offer maximum appeal with minimal effort. And that’s just the beginning of what you’ll find.

Need help deciding? Themed lists let you choose dinner based on your mood, the season, or what's on hand. There are even tips for scaling recipes for two. With 200 recipes plus ways to spin them, you’ve got more than a year of great ideas.
