Salt and pepper king prawns (Tôm rang muôi) from Secrets of the Red Lantern: Stories and Recipes from the Heart (page 335) by Pauline Nguyen and Luke Nguyen and Mark Jensen

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

I peeled the shrimp to make a less messy main course and had to use cornstarch instead of potato starch. I would like to try using unpeeled to see if that makes the dish even better.

Terrific. The flavors are clean, the shrimp is crisp but not in the least bit oily, and the salt doesn't overwhelm the dish even as the use of five spice powder is subtle.
