    I wanted to like this recipe, as it's nice and easy- sweet potatoes, carrots and apples are roasted and then pureed into a soup. Somehow, the carrot just didn't work for me- the roasting brought out an earthiness to it that for some reason didn't go well with the other veg. The recipe calls for topping the soup with either dried cranberries, sauteed mushrooms or kippered salmon, but none of those choices appealed to me. It would definitely benefit from a topping to highlight more flavors from what is otherwise a fairly bland soup.
