Brownies from How To Be a Domestic Goddess: Baking and the Art of Comfort Cooking (USA) by Nigella Lawson

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

I was mad at this recipe after I cooled and cut these brownies. They just seemed too gooey and underdone, even though I went longer than the bake time. (I baked them at 325 instead of 350 because of my dark 9x13 pan.) They use 21 tablespoons of butter (!) and I blamed that. I took them to a celebration and I think some folks were put off by the gooeyness. But the following day, they seemed to have transformed into a normal, acceptable texture! So next time I make these, I'll bake a day ahead, or give them more time in the oven. I'd like to try them with the walnuts in the recipe but this keeps being vetoed by the kids in the family who want chocolate chips or salted caramel chips instead. Oh, maybe THAT is part of the gooeyness issue!

This is my go-to brownie recipe. It’s a massive hit with my family and friends and so simple!

I'm a huge fan of this recipe - these taste amazing and are very rich. Timed at 25 minutes, gooey but sets beautifully to form a nice fudgey brownie. Also works well with chopped white chocolate replacing the walnuts.
