    As others have noted, the beans can be blanched ahead of time. I did that the day before, which was nice when balancing multiple side dishes Thanksgiving afternoon. The shallots and browned butter add a lovely flavor to the beans. Two Barefoot Contessa recipes on my holiday table this year!

    Delicious! I pre-blanched the beans and pre-sautéed the shallots while roasting a chicken. Once the chicken had rested and gravy was done, I reheated the butter/shallots and stirred in the beans. Amazing flavor. Those shallots are magic.

    Quick last-minute recipe if green beans are blanched in advance. Great for Thanksgiving. I doubled the beans but not the shallots. A hit, even with the kids.

    My favorite recipe for regular green beans. Will occasionally use bacon drippings and the crumbled bacon in addition to the shallots.
