    I used 2 lbs (900 g) venison since mine came in 1 lb packages, frozen pearl onions instead of small shallots (which might be the same thing?), and dried thyme. Also added a few frozen peas at the end. The stew was rich and flavorful, very nice over the barley "risotto" but would also be good over mashed potatoes, noodles, etc.
