    These were really good, but I used a porcelain baker and I think they could have done with a touch more baking time in that vessel, as they were just a bit soft (although the tester came out clean). I used three extra-large eggs instead of four large eggs. Flavor-wise, they are terrific- the perfect classic brownie as others described. I will definitely make these again.

    Fabulous brownies! Deep chocolate flavour (I used 70% cacao chocolate), not too sweet and with the perfect texture: fudgy centre, chewy edges and crackly top. Even better, they're done in about 45 minutes and use ingredients I always have on hand so can be whipped up at a moment's notice.

    Supernatural indeed. Don't know why I waited so long to make these brownies. I used half butter and half oil, extra large eggs and TJ's 75% dark chocolate.

    This is my go-to brownie recipe against which all other brownie recipes are judged. It has the right balance of a fudgey texture, but solid enough to hold well in the hand, a crunchy top and a good chocolate flavor. All round it is everything I expect from a brownie.

    I am giving this recipe 5 stars based on my husband's evaluation. He seldom praises. I took the brownies to a family birthday dinner where I knew there would be many chocoholics so I took only a tiny piece. I am not a chocoholic.
