Can substitute minced lamb for minced beef; red wine or gravy for dry white wine; and chicken stock for beef stock. See recipe for Italian variation.

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

I made the cottage pie (with beef.) Mixed verdict. I didn't have celery, which the recipe calls for, but I don't think it would have made that much difference. I'd probably try a different recipe next time instead of coming back to this one.
