Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

    My spouse, who doesn't generally bake, made this and it came out beautifully; it definitely is a dense, rich cake (similar to carrot cake) -- I wouldn't double-decker it, it'd be too much, but it was great. Spouse thought it could use a bit more spice; I thought it was just right to make it an apple & spice cake (rather than just a spice cake with apples for moisture). Frosting could use a pinch of salt.

    Alas, this is the rare SK recipe that didn't work for me--I found it to be a bit dense and heavy (and I speak as someone who loves moist spice cakes). C liked it better than I did, but I wouldn't repeat.
