Indexing for EYB - input screen   Go to last post Go to last unread

I may have raised this before but it's suddening irritating me a lot at the moment as I check my indexing for the book I'm trying to finish off at the moment (Alison Holst's "Ultimate Collection").

I hope I can explain myself.  I'm writing about the input screen with the input template at the top and then the "Recipes Added" list that appears below, sorted in # number order. Often I re-sort the list so that it is in e.g. recipe title order, but if I do that and edit a particular recipe, the list below reverts to the # number order again.  Would it be possible somehow (or is it already) to not have the list re-sort every time?  If one is checking multiple entries and making edits, it takes quite a bit of time to get back to where one was, or to where one wants to be next.

Thanks

I may not have understood, but why would you want to change the display sort order at all? AS to "getting back" to where you want to be I find it's easiest with ctrl F (windows), enter a word and press enter... but I may have totally misunderstood your issue ;-)

CharlotteBB, I have a workaround that may help you.

Sort your titles, and then for each recipe title you want to edit, right mouse click on the title, and choose the "open in a new tab" option.  Make your edits to each recipe, and then close each tab after saving.  Your original tab, with the titles as you originally sorted them, will remain intact.

I do this while proofreading to check for typos and SCI's in titles.

That issue irritates me all the time too, but I just tried jumali's workaround, and I see that it works.

If you sort all the recipes in a book by title, you can see which recipes might need Arabic numerals added, and it may make it easier to catch spelling and capitalization errors. Also, if it's a really big book, you might want to see all of the new ingredients that you've requested sorted together or you might want to see all of your indexer notes sorted together.

Thank you Whitewoods - exactly, and I will give your suggestion a go as it will help for the moment.  However will keep my fingers crossed that perhaps there can be a tweek to the software at some time in the future.  Thanks everyone.

I use the Recipes Added table extensively as I review books, for the same reasons whitewoods and jumali listed. My technique for maintaiing my sort is the same as that described by jumali--open a new browser tab for the recipe I want to edit.  When done with the new tab, I close it and return to the original tab with the sorted Recipes Added table.
