I ordered a small ham from Snake River Farms.  Just outstanding ham.  It is what's called mini carver but even that, I think it's going to be enough for 6 separate dinners for two people.  Last night I simply sliced it and served for us with two types of mustard, the wonderful blue cheese sweet potato au gratin from Panna, and steamed veggies.

Do you have any tried and true recipes using leftover ham or ham in general?  I would be very interested in what you recommend for us to try.  Thanks!

One of my favourites is slivers of ham, shredded chard and crushed garlic sauteed in some olive oil and tossed through pasta. I am also a huge fan of the old-school British ham, egg & chips (slices of ham, fried eggs and fat-cut fries). And of course pea & ham soup.

Here are some recipes that I like to make with leftover ham, all from books that I see are on your Shelf, or from online recipes:

Gratin of Shredded Potatoes with Ham and Eggs

Split Pea Soup

Black Bean Pumpkin Soup

1789 Pear Salad (calls for prosciutto, but you can sub with high-quality ham)

I love all of those ideas and recipes.  Terrific and will certainly have to try them.  Tonight I am the split pea soup with the hambone from and since I've never had ham, eggs and french fries together, I am making that too.  Gratin and the pear salad sound so good too and will try them.  Black bean and pumpkin - just wow, sounds very intriguing.

Thanks for some great ideas to make.

If you want to make it authentic British pub style, serve it with halved grilled tomatoes or some green peas.

I needed to use up blue cheese and sweet potato au gratin so that was used in place of french fries.  But, I did make the ham, eggs and grilled tomato.  I often do grilled tomato with eggs with the side of sausage or bacon.  Is this normally served for breakfast in pubs?  Never been to UK and I looked for the photos for ideas how to arrange.  Perhaps, we will make the trip this year though.

It's an any-time-of-day one. Most pubs will have it on the menu for lunch and dinner, but greasy spoons (I guess the equivalent is a diner?) will serve it at breakfast. At home people usually leave the chips off if they are making it for breakfast, although I have been known to use oven-fries when really hung over!

this was a very elegant (as far as it goes) one that I had in a gastropub a few years ago. The little copper pot of baked beans was a nice touch!

The food here looks good and I agree the use of copper pot is a nice one.  In Japan when western style breakfast is presented, it always comes with salad.  My husband has gotten used to that after many trips there  and he particularly likes to have salads for breakfast now.

I make a little baked ham dish with leftover ham.
You make a white sauce with onions and peppers, then you add ham and a good sharp cheese. Put it in little ramekins and add biscuit dough to the top, bake until it's golden and bubbly.
It's ony of my favourite ways to use up ham. A really nice comfort food.

Another great way to use small bits of ham- potted ham or devilled ham. A great spread to serve with crostini. I used a recipe from Bon Appetit.

No, it's not working right for me.

Rinshin -- Both of those links you shared work, they just get abbreviated when you copy them directly into the post to save space. If you want to turn a word or phrase into a link though, you first type your text, then highlight it. Once it is highlighted, the little link symbol will activate (third from the left) and if you click on it, a box will pop up where you can copy the URL. Then you get a links that looks like this instead:

Yes, that's the recipe though I don't think I added scallions. Maybe minced shallots.

Thank you Christine - I'll give it a try next time with a link.  I'll definitely try the ham recipe Barb.  Looks great.
