I'm Jacqueline, been on EYB for about a year. I've been in AU for about 3 years, and plan to stay until I retire in another 6 or 8 years. I'm originally from VA.

Most of my cook books are American, and I occasionally run across recipes with ingredients that I just can't get here, especially since I live in the bush. On the flip side, I do find ingredients, especially produce, that are not widely available in the US so I enjoy figuring out how to cook with them.

Thanks, debkellie! Yes, I found USA Foods - they carry my favorite pasta sauce :-).

I guess the problem for me isn't so much that things aren't available in AU, but because I live in the bush in Central QLD, it's difficult to obtain them, especially refrigerated items. Last time I made a road trip to Brisbane (12 hours one way), I loaded up a couple of eskies of hard-to-find stuff on the return trip.
