Hi.  Just joined a couple of days ago and logged in this morning to find both the library and my bookshelf bare!  Is there a techie problem today, or did I do something wrong?!  Many thanks.

This happened to me too! I sent an email. It must be a tech problem.  Hopefully it's an easy, quick fix.

I just experienced the same thing -- good to know that I'm not alone. Hoping it will be back soon. What a way for the EYB team to end the week! Good luck to them in dealing with this issue.

I cannot add cookbooks to my library and it keeps dropping out.
Glad I am not the only one was getting very frustrated ;/
Thanks for posting

I hadn't even noticed! But mine are all gone too. Tragedy!

They're back! Jay!

Sorry about that everyone!  There was a glitch in an overnight (well overnight in the USA) admin process.  As soon as we realized it was an issue, it was fixed.  And we will make sure it doesn't happen again.

Don't worry, your Bookshelf data can never be lost, we have everything safely backed up.  If you ever find something wrong with the site, the fastest way to get our attention is to email us at [email protected].  Though unfortunately this one happened at a time when neither Fiona (NZ) or I (USA) were at our computers (that doesn't happen often!).

Thanks for letting us know Jane.  Have to tell you I'm LOVING your site.  Such a brilliant idea- just wish I'd found it sooner!

Thanks Jane!

Although, I am still getting "Welcome to EYB, You can now get started" on my landing page.

Foodycat - that's odd, I haven't seen that and no-one else has reported it.  Has anyone else had this issue?

Vanessa888 - I'm so pleased to hear that! Please spread the word to all your friends and family who like to cook.  We know there are loads more people who would love EYB if they only knew it existed.

It is a bit odd!

When something odd happens (on any site, not just EYB) try doing a hard refresh - on a PC that is hold CTRL and press F5 and on a Mac it's hold Cmd and Shift then R.  This can clear a browser issue that is loading a cached (saved) page rather than the current settings.

Yes, I do. Even though my bookshelf is long-standing, since the temporary glitch, the home screen says:

Welcome to Eat Your Books. You're now ready to set up your Bookshelf:

  1. Click on Library (above)

  2. Enter the details of a cookbook you own in search box. Click on +Bookshelf to add to 'My Bookshelf'

  3. Click on My Bookshelf (above)

  4. Click on Recipes and try searching for a recipe.

  5. Now you know how it works try adding more books, magazines and blogs!

Detailed help, including videos, can be found at the Support Center.

Foodycat and zorra - I think all that has happened is that we have recently changed the Help Tip at the top and you are now noticing it for the first time.  You can close them down on your Accounts page (which you access from your username at top right).

I have unticked "help tips" in email subscriptions, and the welcome is still showing on the home page.

Foodycat,

I have that showed up on my homepage too, all you need to do is click on the cross on the upper right corner of the help info to close it. The help display will then be replaced by a question of whether you want to have the help info displayed, Click "NO", and the question will disappear as well.
