I joined a couple of months ago but hadn't added many cookbooks until the past couple of weeks. While few of my collection are indexed (58 out of 299), I am really enjoying the site.
It's prompted me to organize the cookbooks in my house. I'm trying to cull out some but that's difficult to do. Some of my cookbooks are ones my mother had until she downsized a few years ago. I tell her that it is her fault that I love to read cookbooks :) She still likes to read cookbooks but can only have a few on hand in an apartment. I have gotten rid of a lot of cooking magazines that I have or can get the annual collection in hardback. Magazines take up a lot of space. I donated them and the binders to a local thrift shop that supports a domestic violence shelter. I still have more magazines to send their way. I'm still sorting through boxes of cookbooks that I had in storage. I need more bookshelves :)
It is so great to use EYB to search for a recipe. I had some pork tenderloin that I wanted to cook. Instead of looking for hours through cookbooks and websites to find a recipe, I used EYB to pick out a few and quickly decided on one. The reciped turne out great and got me to use a cookbook I had not used before. (Bourbon-marinated pork tenderloin from Southern Living 2004 Annual Recipes). I love my Southern Living Cookbooks.
I have a number of cookbooks on my Kindle Fire. I was happy to see a few of the large ones indexed on EYB. That should prompt me to use those books.
