I used to make Chinese lemon chicken recipe from Bon Appetit in the late 70's through early 80's. I just came back from living in Asia and never had something like this there. I've had Chinese lemon chicken at various Chinese-American restaurants at that time and since then in the US, and never liked any of them because they were mostly very sweet, gloppy, sloppy presentation, no fresh taste of real lemon, etc. But, this particular recipe was very different. I remember julienned carrots and another julienned vegetable. Diagonally thinly sliced chicken breasts with very little flour coating and fresh and light lemon sauce. It was perfect. At least it was then. Like many things in life, I had many other recipes to try and eat. Have not made this recipe for over 34 years. I still keep all B&A mags hoping one day to find that recipe.
My to-do list in January is finding that recipe. I think I will have to go through about 5-6 years of magazines.
Do you have a recipe you want to find again?
