When the recipe is no longer online or the link is outdated?   Go to last post Go to last unread

I keep meaning to ask this, but when EYB says "recipe online" and I click on the link and am not brought to the recipe, what is the best way to handle this? I mean, should we report them, or do you think there are just too many? Should I search for a replacement link, but what about if the recipe can no longer be found at all?

When I don't find what I'm looking for in my own recipes, then I like to search all of EYB's online recipes, but sometimes a number of the links are outdated. Does EYB prefer to leave all of those recipes in the database or remove them? Seems kind of a shame to remove them, but I don't know what the policy is regarding defunkt online recipes.

We definitely want to replace or remove broken links. There are two options. One is to add a Note. I go through the Notes every day and anything that alerts us to a broken link or a wrong ingredient gets corrected and the Note deleted. Or you can email us at info@ and I will make the correction. There is a Contact link at top right and a Report an error link at the bottom of the page - it doesn't matter which you use, they come to the same place (me!). When emailing you don't have to go into much detail - just "broken link" as the subject and the URL for the recipe page as the text.

It would be great if you can find a replacement working link and send it along but it's not essential. I can look. Bear in mind that EYB only links to recipes reproduced with the publisher's permission so we don't link to bloggers who reproduce recipes without the consent of the copyright holder. If I cannot find a replacement then the link is completely removed.

When we add a note about a broken link, should we make it private or public?

Notes about broken links should be public otherwise I cannot see them. I try to go through all the Notes every day though when very busy (like now!) it can be a couple of days. But I do check every Note and make any corrections as required. Emails however are responded to within hours so it is quicker to email either by clicking Contact at top right, or Report an Error at bnottom right.
